Farmhouses, acreage and the occasional barn conversion
Brooks does not really have subdivisions in the way the rest of the area does. What it has is older farmhouses, custom builds on several acres, and a fair number of properties where somebody has done something unusual with the architecture on purpose.
That means the windows are rarely standard. Tall gable ends, banks of glass in a converted space, the occasional window that was clearly built rather than bought. Everything we make is cut to the actual opening, so an unusual window is a measuring problem rather than a reason to compromise on what goes in it.
Privacy is almost never the driver here. When the nearest house is a field away the brief is about light, heat and keeping the view. That is the enjoyable version of this job, because it opens up the treatments that people on tighter lots cannot really use.
Half the windows we measure in Brooks are not a size anybody stocks. That is fine: everything is made to your opening, so an odd-shaped or oversized window costs more in measuring time than it does in complication.
