The homes here
Family houses, and a lot of glass
Most of Fayetteville's housing is the comfortable suburban stock that went up as the county grew: four and five bedroom houses on decent lots, with the two-storey entry and the run of rear-facing windows onto the yard that came as standard with that era of building.
Those rear elevations are the recurring conversation here. They usually face west or south, they take the full afternoon sun, and the room behind them is the room the family actually sits in. Solar shades or cellular shades solve that without blacking the room out, and it is the single most common thing we are called about in this town.
At the other end, Trilith is doing something entirely different: dense, modern, architecturally deliberate, with window shapes that were drawn rather than ordered. Those jobs need a treatment specified to the drawing, and they are some of the more enjoyable measures we do.
West-facing rear windows are the Fayetteville problem. If your family room is unusable from three o'clock in the afternoon, that is a solvable thing and it does not require giving up the view.
