Where they go

The openings we screen

Every screen is custom built, so it can be designed to fit nearly any exterior opening or outdoor structure.

Covered patios
The most common install. Screens on the open sides turn a roofed slab into a room that gets used after dark.
Screened porches
Replacing tired fixed screening with something that retracts, so the porch is open when the weather is good.
Outdoor kitchens
Keeps insects off food preparation without enclosing the cook in a box with the heat.
Pool enclosures
Shade and insect control over a pool deck, with the screen retracted when you want the sun on the water.
Pergolas and gazebos
Screening a structure that was built for shade but never for bugs. Custom sizing handles the posts.
Garage openings
Turns a garage into usable workspace with the door up and the insects out. A common job in summer.
Large sliding glass doors
Exterior screening across a wide opening where a conventional screen door would be impractical.
Carports and lanais
Awkward existing structures, measured and built to the opening rather than fitted from stock sizes.

What they are

A screen that appears when you want it and disappears when you do not

Motorized patio screens are retractable exterior screens that protect an outdoor space from insects, sun, wind and debris. Push a button and the screen lowers into a protected room; push it again and you have the open-air view back.

Bugs out

Insect protection

Mosquitoes, flies and everything else stay off the porch while the air still moves through it. This is the reason most people call us, and the one that changes how often the space gets used.

Sun and heat

Glare and temperature

Solar screen fabrics cut the glare and a good deal of the heat while keeping natural light and the view out. A west-facing patio becomes usable in the part of the day it was previously not.

Wind and privacy

Shelter and screening

The screen takes the edge off a breeze and adds a comfortable level of privacy from a neighbouring yard without walling the space in or blocking what you want to look at.

Unlike a fixed screen, a retractable one leaves you the choice. The porch is screened when you want it screened and completely open when you do not, which is the difference between a screened porch and a porch you can screen.

Try it

One button, the whole porch

A covered patio with motorized screens on the front and the side, both on the same circuit. Tap once to close the porch in. Tap again to open it back up. The real ones move at about this speed.

A covered patio seen from inside, with motorized screens on the front and the side opening and closing together.

Now: open

Two openings, one command

The front screen drops and the side screen tracks down the angle at the same time. Both motors sit on one circuit, so closing the porch in is one button rather than a lap of the patio.

Choose the fabric for the job

Insect mesh keeps the bugs out and the air moving. Solar mesh adds glare and heat control on a west-facing space. Clear vinyl is what you fit if you want to use the patio in January.

A wind sensor is not optional

An exposed screen needs a sensor that retracts it when the wind picks up. We spec one on every outdoor job, because replacing a screen is one thing and replacing the frame it tore off is another.

What you are choosing between

The fabric decides what the porch becomes

The system is the same in all three cases. What changes is what you are trying to keep out, and that is worth settling before anyone measures.

Most common

Insect mesh

Best for a porch you stopped using in the evenings.

  • Keeps mosquitoes, flies and pests out entirely
  • Air and breeze pass straight through
  • The most open of the three to look through
  • Turns a covered patio into a screened porch on demand
  • Limited effect on glare and afternoon heat
  • Not a wind or weather barrier
West-facing

Solar mesh

Best where the afternoon sun is the problem.

  • Cuts glare and reduces heat while keeping the view
  • Blocks UV off furniture and flooring
  • Adds a comfortable level of daytime privacy
  • Still passes air, so the space does not become stuffy
  • Not a full weather barrier

Openness varies by fabric: a tighter weave gives more privacy and heat control, a looser one keeps more of the view.

Year round

Clear vinyl

Best if you want the patio in January.

  • A real barrier against wind and rain
  • Keeps the view completely intact
  • Holds warmth in an outdoor heater's worth of space
  • Extends the usable season at both ends
  • No airflow when it is down, so it is closed or open rather than both
  • Needs more care than mesh to stay clear

What to look for

The track is the part that fails, so it is the part that matters

There are plenty of retractable screen systems available and most of them work fine on the day they are installed. The difference shows up over a few seasons, and it almost always shows up in the track.

The track is what holds the edges of the screen. When the screen shifts, because the wind caught it, because the house moved, because a chair went into it, a track that is badly matched to the opening or badly fitted lets it snag, jam or pull out. Once that happens the screen either stops moving or starts tearing, and neither is a small repair.

So we specify the system for the opening rather than the other way round: how exposed it is to the wind, how wide the span is, what the screen has to keep out and what it is mounted to. That decides the track, the fabric and the motor, and it is why we measure and spec every outdoor job ourselves before anything is ordered.

The practical result is a screen that runs smoothly from the first cycle and stands up to the weather it actually sees. On an exposed opening that is not a premium feature, it is the reason the screen is still working in year five.

Installation

This is a measuring and fitting job, not a product you order

Retractable patio screens need accurate measurement and proper installation to run smoothly and keep running. An outdoor opening is rarely square, rarely the same at the top as at the bottom, and rarely attached to anything as forgiving as an interior window frame. Screens fitted approximately bind, and screens that bind fail.

What we do on an outdoor job: custom measurement and system design for the actual opening, the motorized screen installation itself, the fabric and opacity selection with you before anything is ordered, the smart control setup, and professional calibration and mounting so the screen runs true from the first cycle.

We have installed thousands of window treatments and outdoor shading systems around Peachtree City. A patio screen install is usually a full day, and we would rather tell you that up front than surprise you with it.

What we fit

How we spec an outdoor screen

Every outdoor job is specified to the opening it is going on: the screen itself, how you control it, and how it is protected from the weather.

Custom built

Sized to the opening

Each screen is built to the measured opening rather than a stock size, with the track, fabric and motor chosen for how wide the span is and how exposed it is to the wind.

Controls

Remote, switch or app

Operate from a handheld remote, a wall switch, a smartphone app or an integrated smart home system. The remote is radio and works whether or not the internet does.

Wind sensor

Specified on every outdoor job

Retracts the screen automatically when the wind gets up. We include it as standard rather than as an upsell, because an exposed screen without one is a screen with a shorter life than it should have.
